Assembly to cast vote on Vice Delegacy

Today a vote has openend in the Assembly that will decide if Fudgetopia is to be appointed as Vice Delegate. The person on this position will take over the delegacy in case the current Delegate (Caer Rialis) steps down, thus this poll may very well decide the future delegate of our region. In the process of nomination and public questioning that preceded the poll, The South Pacific populace generally supported the nomination, indicating that the appointment is most likely to pass.

SPFA Matchday 8

Herculeum take the honours and top the table...Badgers win the relegation 6 pointer...DVD become only the second team to drop points against EPC Minions...Another draw for Crustaceans & Argyle...

Herculeum Lightning came away from Myrulesia with a fantastic 5 v 3 victory, a result that catapults them above the Athletics who have topped the table for much of the season...Herculeum lived up to their name, as they were like lightning out of the blocks and scored 3 times to effectively put the game beyond Myrulesia's reach before half time...In trying to stage a dramatic comeback they were always going to be vulnerable on the counter attack and so it proved...With Herculeum taking full advantage each time Athletics exerted any real pressure...This certainly keeps the title wide open...

Badgers United recorded their 3rd win of the season against a lacklustre Cheeseheads side who showed no real attacking intent all game...In fact there was no midfield or defensive intent either and the Badgers really should have scored more goals...But they will be satisfied to have put more distance between themselves and the bottom of the table...If this current form can continue they can look forward to secure mid table obscurity...For Kaselande Cheeseheads this latest defeat, their 4th in succession leaves them perilously close to the bottom and could even find themselves bottom if results don't go their way next week...

Crusty and Argyle played out a goaless draw and both are proving to be draw specialists...A result which does neither team any favours with Argyule failing to capitalise and close the gap to the league leaders and Crusty falling ever closer into the mire at the bottom of the table...

EPC Minions keep their season alive with a valuable away point against a DVD United side that was missing three of its key players due to a mysterious virus that struck its training camp...A spokesperson for the club stated that...'There was squits and sickness all over the place this past week...And to be honest we are lucky to be fielding a team at all...We had seven of the team wearing nappies (diapers) and at half time the other four were puking their guts out...So to get a point is almost miraculous...'

SPOT Light on Tsunamy

In the first of our SPOT Light series on the South Pacific's Cabinet Ministers, Tsunamy, Minister of the Region, joins us for a little chat and to answer some very important questions...So Tsu...

1) Tell me about your introduction to Nation States & The South Pacific...

I started NS after a RL friend recommended it to me. TSP was my feeder region, and I never left.

2) What has kept you interested and active on the forums for so long?..

What originally made me active was the XYZ_Affair. What kept me active was the simple fact that I'm root admin and thereby am responsible for the Invision board.

3) Is there anything that stands out as being the most influential thing to have happened in the South Pacific?..

Essentially, the original government headed by Killer Monkeys and Goddessness is probably the most influential part. Without that, nothing TSP is now, would ever have happened, or at least happened as it did.

4) Tell me about your motivation for serving the Region as both an elected Cabinet Minister and Forum Admin...

5) What do you see as the most important work for a Cabinet Member?..

Cabinet members are essentially here to lead the government. Tehy are here to bring light to issues that as being ignored or simply not seen.

6) Given that the Coming Age of the Badger is surely upon us, what advice can you give for everyone to prepare?..

Um...?

7) Where do you stand on the whole Fuzzie Bunnies thing?..

I like them.

8) If you were to ever leave the South Pacific, which other Region would you grace with your presence?..

When I leave the South Pacific...I'll be leaving NS.

9) What is your favourite colour?..

Orange.

10) Have you ever had to explain your involvement in NationStates/South Pacific to the uninitiated?..What was their reaction?..

Not Really.

11) How close to your real persona is that of 'Tsunamy'?..

I am Tsunamy. I think it's safe to say I never tried to portray it as a persona other than myself.

12) Would you rather be a 'pain in the neck' or 'pain in the arse'?..

Um...Arse...Because then I'd sound British.

13) If you were an animal, would you be disappointed that you weren't a human?..

Possibly.

14) What is your favourite head furniture?..

15) What's the most demeaning act you have ever been asked to perform?..

Oh...That's not for small children to hear wink.gif

16) Do you think that the Americans really landed on the Moon, or was it just an elaborate hoax?..

Elaborate hoax.

17) What is your favourite cheese?..

American. or Swiss.

18) Buckaroo or Operation?..

Say what?

19) What question would you most like to be asked by an interviewer?..

So, who did you sleep with last night?

20) What do you think of students?..

I am one.

21) What do you think of old people?..

I may eventually be one of them too.

22) What award would you most like to win?..

None. I don't really need acknowledgement.

23) Which one individual do you hate most in the world?

I don't know if I have one.

24) Why?..

25) Monty Python or Blackadder?..

Ick to both.

26) Finally, do you have an inspirational message for our readers?..

"Dream like you'll live forever, live like you'll die tomorrow." - James Dean

Our thanks to Tsunamy for his time in answering our questions...Hopefully you have a clearer picture of what makes him tick...Lets just hope he doesn't explode though...

SPFA Matchday 7

Myrulesia & Herculeum continue to set the pace at the top...Badgers & Crustaceans play out 10 goal thriller...Argyle record second straight win and move up to third...

The Cheeseheads were always going to find life tough as they visited the run away league leaders Myrulesia Athletics...The game started well and following a poetic 22 pass movement involving all team members, Myrulesia walked the ball into the net and led one nil at the interval...The second half should have seen the flood gates open but Kaselande were resilient and were gifted the chance for an equaliser, which they took, as their centre forward was bundled unceremoniously to the floor in the penalty area...The Cheeseheads bravely tried to hold onto what would have been a hard earned point but the Athletics were just too strong and with 20 minutes remaining made sure that there winning streak continued for a sixth straight week...A result that sees Kaselande Cheeseheads drop to second from bottom in the table...

Arguably the most entertaining game was between Badgers United and Crusty Crustaceans, who shared 10 goals equally between them...Both teams took the lead in a topsy turvy first period with defensive frailties being all too well exposed on both sides...With United just shading the game before the break with a 3 v 2 advantage the coach tried to sure things up at the back by resorting to adding another defender, but this soon backfired as confusion continued to reign in the Badgers backline and CR were soon back level for the third time in the game...A penalty apiece saw the score reach four all and with just minutes remaining that appeared to be the most likely outcome, but from a corner the Badgers took the lead yet again and were almost assured of the valuable three points when yet another lapse of concerntration allowed CR's talented midfielder to break free, round the keeper and slot home for a well earned point...In the end a draw being not much good for either side as they are finding themselves further and further off the pace at the top...Both far too close to the bottom of the table for their liking...

WB Argyle were the 6th team to beat the EPC Minions...The light at the end of the tunnel is close to being completely extinguished for the Minions as they yet again failed to score and were beaten more easily than the score finally reflected...The only goal coming as a result of a expertly despatched free kick from 25 yards, which beat the keeper easily, nestling in the bottom left hand corner of the net...Argyle meanwhile are proving to be the best of the rest as this win moves them up into 3rd position equalling their best league placing of the season...In a post match interview their head coach commented...'We really have the momentum now to kick on in the second half of the season...We have to catch Herculeum Lighting and if we can do that then who knows Myrulesia are not that far in front...We are in good form and just have to score a few more goals...'

DVD United continued their patchy performances with another unispiring loss, this time to Herculeum, who take their winning streak to 5 games and keep the gap between themselves and Myrulesia at just the 3 points...DVD look set for mid table mediocrity and unless they can put together a decent run of games may get embroiled in the fight at the foot of the table...

We have gained Influence

A few days ago the game programmers/Max Berry released a new game feature to nationstates: Influence. The longer a nation is in the region, and the more UN endorsements it has, the more influence the nation is supposed to have in the region, and the higher it's Influence level. Ejecting a nation from the region will cost a regional delegate a certain amount of power; the higher the Influence of the ejected nation, the higher the cost. This means, obviously, that the total control over a region that Regional Delegate used to have, is dramatically reduced. The rule was installed to give the Game Moderators a break in the numerous Griefing vs. Invading conflicts: these situations are now solved by the Influence mechanics. It is expected, however, that the new feature will have quite a large influence on how the game is played. Further is it expected that more spammers and trolls are reported to the Moderators instead of simply being ejected from the region, as these ejections would reduce the Delegates possibilities to defend the region.

The full rules can be read on the Regional Off-Site forums, as copied from the original site.

SPFA Matchday 6

Fifth straight win for Myrulesia...Fourth straight win for Herculeum...DVD back to form...Flash in the pan for Minions...

The league leaders were pushed all the way by a resilient Crustaceans side who were in contention for all three points right up until the final quarter of the game...It was then that the soft underbelly of CR's defence was exposed twice in quick succession to see the Athletics top marksman score two superb goals...This result sees the Athletics maintain their healthy lead at the top whilst Crusty are only 4 points off the bottom...

The Minions could not carry over the progress they made last week against the hapless Badgers into this weeks confrontation with the Lightning who maintained the only realistic challenge to Myrulesia...Herculeum will be disappointed that they did not score more, for they certainly created a hat full of chances...EPC Minions remain in familiar territory at the foot of the table...The only saving grace is that three other teams failed to register points too...

Kaselande Cheeseheads and Badgers United are starting to look like season long companions for the Minions at the foot of the table...The Cheeseheads getting a sever grating from a DVD side that has rediscovered its form of late...A three nil victory was far from flattering and although Kaselande huffed and puffed, they could not break down a brick like midfield and defence...Their own straw like defence will be hoping to be on more secure foundations for next weeks match...The hapless Badgers seemed powerless to prevent WB Argyle from walking away with all three points...With only 2 wins in six the Badgers are begining to look all at sea, whilst the much needed win moves Argyle to the top of the mid table mediocrity...

Following the game the Badgers United coach was unavailable for comment, preferring instead to confiscate all Team Badgers' JAM rations and keeping them firmly under lock and key, obviously until the performances on the pitch improve...Severe measures indeed...

Prime Minister Appointed

The Delegate of the South Pacific appoints replacement Prime Minister...

To fill the void left by Caer Rialis returning to the Delegacy, he has, in consultation with the Cabinet and as per the Charter and Laws of the Region appointed Kloister as the Prime Minister...

Kloister joins the Cabinet following a 4 month break from government responsibilities, after holding office of Secretary/Minister of the Region for over 12 months previously...

Caer Rilalis gave the following quote...'Good luck to you'...

Short but to the point...

In his opening address Kloister said...'Given the circumstances leading to this...It is with a heavy heart that I accept this great privilege in becoming Prime Minister...Respect and gratitude to our Delegate and the Cabinet for having trust and faith in me...I will give of my best to be of service to the Region...'

In other related news, it would appear that rumours of the impending Coming Age of the Badger could be true after all...With the newly appointed Prime Minister openly announcing his ties to the Badgers...

...'Hey!..Did anyone hear a trump?..

Surely this can't be the Coming Age of the Badger!.. ninja.gif post--1079458250.gif ninja.gif

Moo Haa Haa...'

Delegate Steps Down

Goddessness, the Delegate of the South Pacific, steps down from office effective immediately...

Due to unforeseen personal circumstances Goddessness has taken the difficult decision to relinquish her delagacy back into the hands of Caer Rialis following her shorter than expected tenure...Caer Rialis who had remained second overall in the endorsement count has assumed the delegacy and will continue for the foreseeable future...

It is with great regret that SPOT reports on these events and we send our very best wishes to one of the founder members of the South Pacific...You will be greatly missed, fondly remembered and your return eagerly anticipated...

SPFA Matchday 5

EPC Minions hit the Badgers for six...DVD win for the first time in four...Myrulesia & Herculeum still set the pace...

The Minions pulled a rabbit from the proverbial hat earlier on today as they came from 3 goals down, to rout Badgers United by 6 goals to 3...In what was a shocking defensive display from the Badgers they completely capitulated when faced with a rejuvinated Minions attack...This result plunges the Badgers further into the mire at the foot of the table having only picked up 6 points from a possible 15...Meanwhile things are certainly thawing out for the Minions as they register not only their first points of the season, but their first goals too...And what a way to do it...The Minions head coach was quoted after the game as saying...'This is more like it...It has taken us a good few games to finally click into place and we all could not be happier that it was against our fiercest rivals...It sure does feel good to give those Badgers a slap with our flippers...'

The Badgers coach was at a loss to describe his side's drastic reversal in fortunes...'I just didn't believe what I was seeing...At one point I was all for sneaking on a couple of extra players, but my assistant talked me out of it...Personally I think that those penguins have just been extremely lucky and I can't see this being a turning point in their season...They will definately get relegated...'

Strong words from both coaches...I have the feeling that this battle of words will run and run...

Myrulesia overcame a spirited Argyle performance but in the end were just too strong and even though WB Argyle pulled a goal back, making the final quarter of an hour more competitive, they just could not find a way to break down an extremely organised defence...And that win keeps the Athletics atop the table 3 points clear of Herculeum Lightning who seem to be the only team at the moment that can live with the pace Myrulesia are setting...The Lightning took another easy home victory, this time at the hands of Kaselande Cheeseheads, taking their winning streak to 3...

A further 3 points behind sees both CR Crusty Crustaceans and DVD United who played out a tight affair with United edging it 1 goal to nil...This halted DVD's run of 3 games without a win and sees them as the only side to gain any places in the table this week...Crusty were obviously disappointed somewhat with their performance and with it loose ground on the table toppers...I have a feeling that the vat of boiling water will be simmering away in the Crustaceans dressing room!..
